We were absolutely delighted to have Derek Byrne join us at Waterloo Heights Senior Living Apartments for our Annual Black-Tie Event. Derek’s piano performance added such elegance and warmth to the evening, creating a truly special atmosphere for our residents and their guests.

His talent, professionalism, and engaging presence made the event feel both sophisticated and personal. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the music — many were reminiscing, singing along, and commenting on how wonderful the evening felt because of his performance.

"Romancing the Keys" is the culmination of Derek's lifelong love affair with music and the Piano. From classical to pop standards his music fills the room and creates in the listener emotions ranging from nostalgia to sheer joy  and naturally, some Irish pride as he plays "Carolyn's Concerto" and "Shi Bheag Shi Mhor"

Derek's vast musical experience, stemming from years of touring Ireland , the US and Canada with high profile Irish bands combined with a comprehensice classical training spurred him on to a solo career and this amazing CD. As a former radio host and producer of "Irish Horizons" I wish I had "Romancing the Keys" during those years. It captures the essence of the Piano through the unique and varied selection of pieces each of which is a classic in its own way. From its opening bars to the final dying note, "Romancing the Keys" is a pleasure for the listener and a CD I will treasure and enjoy for many years to come.
